Rochester Movie Makers presents The 72 Hour Mind 2 Movie Challenge
Thanks to all our teams for participating in the challenge, which took place from May 19-22, and then attended our screening on Tuesday, May 31.

Each team was given the same three elements to incorporate:

  • Prop: a clock
  • Character: Bruce or Bryce Lemon who has a secret
  • Line: “This has never happened before”

May Meeting – The American Side Screening – Thursday, May 26 at The Little

We can’t put together a panel or show better than the producers and stars of The American Side coming to The Little for a screening and Q&A. This is your chance to see what we in WNY are capable of and meet many the people who do it. Tickets are available online and will likely sell out.

There are three sides to every story… the truth, the lie, and the American Side. Following a mysterious suicide at Niagara Falls, a low-rent detective unravels a conspiracy to build a revolutionary invention by enigmatic genius, Nikola Tesla.

April Meeting Panel: Sound Department

Next in the production series of panel talks is the most commonly compromised department during production: Sound!
Come find out why that is and how to make the best out of any sound budget. Speaking on the industry and techniques are guests Sound Mixer and Editor Don Feigel, Boom Operator David Pheilshifter, and Production Sound Mixer Michael McFadden.
As usual, networking follows at Genesee Brew House immediately following the meeting.

The General meeting is Thursday, April 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at RCTV, 21 Gorham Street, Rochester. The Genesee Brew House is just a couple blocks down the road, at 25 Cataract Street.

The panel included Camera Operator/DIT Clay O’Dell, Production Manager/AD Jason Torres and Script Supervisor Sandra Hughey.
The discussion was video recorded and will be archived on the RMM Web site.

Prepare for production bootcamp everyone! This month is the first of our “On Set” series and we’re starting with the most essential: Settiquite and Production Workflow. We’ve gathered three local professionals from the most demanding departments to help whip you into shoot-shape:

It’s all about minimizing the problems you might have on set. Solve those problems ahead of time by being prepared!
We’ll have our panel discussion, with input from professionals in each area.

RMM General Meeting Minutes – December, 2015

Organization Announcements:
– Chairman Zachary Welch thanked RAVA and ROCDocs for inviting RMM members to their Holiday party on Dec. 7. The event was a huge success, and allowed the various organization to get to know each other better.
– Mind2Movie will be pushed back to Spring 2016 (probably mid-May).
– The full 2016 calendar will be posted by the January General Meeting.
– Scriptapalooza will be held in the first quarter (February is likely).
– Schmoovies will be held after M2M (probably late summer).
– Reminder: Fast Forward Film Festival submissions are due mid- February.
 
Rochester/Finger Lakes Film Commission:
Nora Brown started the presentation by discussing her role as Commissioner of the Rochester/Finger Lakes Film Commission, and what assistance the Film Commission can offer local filmmakers. She is available to answer questions 24 hours a day.
RMM Secretary Shawn Essler spoke with Ms. Brown about getting a listing of all services up and available on the RMM Web site. Expect a listing sometime in January.
NOTE: RMM members should be aware that, if other filmmakers ask questions related to the Film Commission or its services, to please refer them Ms. Brown (www.filmrochester.org)
