Organization Announcements:

  • The Writer’s Workshop is on September 7, from 6 pm – 8 pm. They have a new Web site at rwwny.org.
  • The name change from RMM to RAFAS is official on paper. There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes.
  • Animatus Studios is hosting a local animation screening on September 15 at 6:30 pm at the Little Theater.
  • RAFAS is actively seeking new board members and volunteers.

Topic Presentation:
RAFAS board member Mike Boas conducted the Round Table Discussion. The topic: Production – Shooting for Post FX. The table gave an introduction to special effects, explaining the various
types, from stop-motion animation to CGI, using examples from the panel’s own work.
The panel included special FX artist John Vincent.
The discussion was video recorded and will be archived on the RAFAS Web site.

  • RAFAS is actively seeking new board members and volunteers.

Topic Presentation: Production – Cinematography
RMM Chairman Zachary Welch conducted the Round Table Discussion.
The table gave an introduction to camerawork, giving the ins and outs on the various positions, and what to expect your first day on set.
The panel included cinematographers Derrick Petrush and Jason
Berardi.

  • Scriptapalooza will be on March 26, 2016 (location TBA). Submission scripts should be around ten pages.
  • Mind2Movie will be May 19-22, 2016 (location TBA).
  • M2M screenings will be scheduled mid-June.
  • Schmoovies is tentatively scheduled for October 13, 2016.
  • RMM is currently looking for volunteers for upcoming projects and events, in preparation for 2016.

The panel included Camera Operator/DIT Clay O’Dell, Production Manager/AD Jason Torres and Script Supervisor Sandra Hughey.

RMM General Meeting Minutes – December, 2015

Organization Announcements:
– Chairman Zachary Welch thanked RAVA and ROCDocs for inviting RMM members to their Holiday party on Dec. 7. The event was a huge success, and allowed the various organization to get to know each other better.
– Mind2Movie will be pushed back to Spring 2016 (probably mid-May).
– The full 2016 calendar will be posted by the January General Meeting.
– Scriptapalooza will be held in the first quarter (February is likely).
– Schmoovies will be held after M2M (probably late summer).
– Reminder: Fast Forward Film Festival submissions are due mid- February.
 
Rochester/Finger Lakes Film Commission:
Nora Brown started the presentation by discussing her role as Commissioner of the Rochester/Finger Lakes Film Commission, and what assistance the Film Commission can offer local filmmakers. She is available to answer questions 24 hours a day.
RMM Secretary Shawn Essler spoke with Ms. Brown about getting a listing of all services up and available on the RMM Web site. Expect a listing sometime in January.
NOTE: RMM members should be aware that, if other filmmakers ask questions related to the Film Commission or its services, to please refer them Ms. Brown (www.filmrochester.org)

– There will be a conjoint holiday party with RAVA, ROC Doc and RMM on Dec. 7. There are only 45 spots available, so RSVP quickly.
– RAVA and RMM are working together, and will look to join organizations very soon.
– The next RMM General Meeting will be one week earlier, on December 17.
– The next RMM Writer’s Workshop will be on December 7.
